It’s been a while

It’s been a while again. I find it hard to find time to blog and write and be a father. This year how ever has been busy taking care of kids and writing scripts for my Comic Book company, Point Blank Comics Here and Here. But I’m feeling the need to take part in NaNoWriMo again this year and help me get back into the swing of writing prose again.

Stay tuned for what’s coming up but here is a little hint.

Btw this is my coffee this morning to help me get going. Pumpkin Spice latte.

Becoming a publishing company?

I have been looking at a lot of publishing houses and companies and thinking about what I want to do with my writing, and with my partnership in Point Blank Comics. And I’ve decided that I’m really going to focus on trying to get an online team together to make these comics I’m writing and by expanding Point Blank Comics as a publishing house of webcomics,  ecomics (publishing through apps like comixology) and print on demand comics. An Indie Press if you will. I have experience in self publishing and I’ve got an idea and drive. I think it’s a gripping idea that will get artists excited.

The main reason for this is a simple one, almost all comic book publishers are closed to everyone but teams at the moment but the comic book genre is bouncing back and I feel the companies out there can’t handle the influx of people looking to jump into the business.

And, the mission is simple, I want to help cultivate talent and hopefully get us all noticed by one of the big boys.

I’ve already set up as a publishing company when I started self publishing a couple years ago, for tax and legal reasons, so why not bring people on as a team? I don’t see any reason to not do that.

New project

Started my latest comic series today. I’m loving the dark noir feel of this series.

Branded

When a man wakes up in a ditch next to a major interstate with no knowledge of who he is or who would want him dead he sets out on a quest aided by the only two clues he has, a strange brand on his right forearm and a uncanny ability to kill people with is bare hands with the slightest of ease.

Available everywhere

As writers we want our stuff to be seen and consumed. I made the mistake for over a year of allowing that market of potential readers to beĀ  greatly reduced by allowing myself to be blinded by the royalty rates of Amazon and Kindle.

As of yesterday Adrenaline Issue #1: Gold Rush and A New Man, Jacob Mallory Mystery #1 are available at every ebook site including Barnes and Noble and Apple iBooks as well as Kindle.

I saw no need in keeping an exclusive with Kindle Direct Publishing when they were not selling enough copies to act as an incentive to stay with them.

Adrenaline Issue #2: Passing the Torch will be available the Wednesday February 10th.

An Innocent Man, Jacob Mallory Mystery #2 will be released in August.

Adrenaline: Passing the Torch

I’m nearly done with the second installment of the Adrenaline series. Adrenaline: Passing the Torch picks up with Romanian mob boss Andre “The Dragon” Rosu picking up his brothers mantel. This sketch is from Jeremiah at Synthetic Human Studio Fine Art and Comics is doing the cover. He sent this sketch of The Dragon for approval, I approve. I’m gonna try something a little different for this cover, he is going to send me a few sketches and I want my WordPress friends to help me decide by voting by on the sketches. He will then turn it into a cover for the novella. In the meantime do me a solid and check out his work at https://m.facebook.com/Synthetic-Human-Studio-Fine-Art-and-Comics-309332149207830/

Here is the sketch of Andre “The Dragon” Rosu.

Point Blank Comics

I would like to invite my friends over to another blog I’m doing with a buddy of mine. Point Blank Comics is the collaborative brain child of writer Hughie Gibson and artist Jeremiah Ray. Two guys with a love for all things noir. From the oldies like Double Indemnity to the modern or neo-noir like Sin City or Lucky Number Slevin.

At Point Blank Comics we are owner creators of noir graphic novels and comics. This is a new site that will be updated regularly with information on our latest projects and a weekly web comic that will be published there for free. Check out our Merchandise page (a work in progress) where you can pick up my novels (I’ve wrote a couple), our graphic novels and comic series or if you would like there are t-shirts and other apparel along with stickers and some other fun stuff.

Here is a sneak peak at the protagonist for our current work in progress a graphic novel set in rural Missouri and is a Country Noir story about small town greed and revenge.
