Nightmares

Like flickering lights
In a horror movie
In and out, Out and in
Light battles darkness
Dreams wage war against reality
And Fear bound us here
Like a carrot just beyond reach
Teasing with promises
of a better tomorrow
I see them out on the horizon
Where orange bounces
around tree tops
As the sun disappears below
The moon grabs the sky
With starry companions
But the moon wouldn’t glow
Without the suns light
Reflecting, making it what it is
He owes all to his enemy
Even he fears the dark
Why do dreams fade with light?
Is the fear really the daylight?
I don’t know which is worse,
The nightmares, or
To face the sadness of the day
It is a delicate balance we must walk
Never teetering one way or the other
